The Mobile Companion

recorder·desk mobile — capture modes, pairing, and second screen.

recorder·desk mobile (iOS & Android) is a capture device for every room. It works standalone and pairs with the desktop over your local network into one unified library.

The mobile app is free. There's no trial, no in-app purchase, and no account — recording, on-device transcription, summaries, chapters, and export all work on the phone alone. Pairing with a desktop is optional and adds the shared library, synced custom templates, and the live second screen; those desktop-backed features follow your desktop license.

Three capture modes

In Person

Tap to record the room via the phone's mic.

Phone

Capture both sides of a phone call on speaker, in one tap.

Meeting

A passive watcher that detects a Zoom / Meet / Teams call and offers a one-tap record. Never starts the mic on its own.

The red rec state means only "actively recording."

What it does

  • On-device transcription with a live waveform, persisted with the audio — 15 spoken languages including English, Japanese, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Dutch, Chinese, Korean, Hindi, Arabic, and Russian. The interface itself is bilingual English & Japanese. Recognition runs on the device by default; sending audio to Apple's or Google's speech servers is an opt-in Allow cloud transcription toggle that ships off.
  • On-device summaries & chapters — pick a bundled template (General, Brief, Meeting, Detailed) or a custom one synced from desktop, and get automatic chapter titles, generated fully on-device via Apple's on-device foundation models on supported iPhones, with a lightweight offline fallback everywhere else. Chapter titles can be renamed by hand.
  • Import audio files — bring in an existing recording and pick its capture mode and spoken language up front (🌐 tag on the detail screen); transcription, the summary, and chapter titles all stay pinned to that language end to end.
  • Export a transcript — share any recording's transcript as Markdown, SRT subtitles, or PDF, straight from its detail screen. You can also share the original audio file.
  • Automatic call & meeting detection (iOS CallKit, Android telephony / notification listeners) that fires an in-app and lock-screen prompt — detect-and-prompt, never silent background recording.
  • Unified library — pairs with the desktop via local-network discovery and merges phone + desktop recordings (deduplicated) into one searchable archive. Rename any recording inline from its detail screen.
  • Live second screen — while your computer records a meeting, the phone streams the in-progress transcript, live translation, and assistant channel to your hand.
Pair a phone from Settings → Mobile Sync on the desktop, on the same local network — by scanning a QR code, or by entering the desktop's IP address and a 6-digit code. That settings tab appears once the mobile companion ships; it's hidden in the current desktop release.
